In Hawai'i mythology, mermaids are portrayed as mesmerizing, beautiful and powerful,
similar to the ocean. Called wahine hi‘u i‘a, they share their stories through mythic tales
and hula.
Ko Olina, with its commitment to conservation and sustainability, is the perfect home for
these guardians and caretakers of the sea. As Hawaiian royalty and high chiefs have done
here for hundreds of years, the peaceful lagoons at Ko Olina provide a picturesque
backdrop for those seeking healing and renewal. Ko Olina now welcomes the sirens of the
sea with an inspiring, interactive one‐hour program perfect for families and kama‘aina to
enjoy.
