An altruistic approach to growing the game at a resort facility can make a healthy impact on the bottom line As with many resort facilities, Ko Olina Golf Club in Kapolei, Hawaii, serves two distinct types of golfers: tourists and locals. At Ko Olina, located 15 minutes from the airport in Honolulu, the golf business is made up of roughly 65 percent resort play from properties at the Ko Olina Resort, including the JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa, Marriott’s Ko Olina Beach Club, Ko Olina Beach Villas Resort and Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa.

The remaining 35 percent of play on Ko Olina’s 18-hole course comes from local daily fee golfers and residents of the resort’s 642 acres of master-planned homes and condos.
