Ocean Joy Cruises is one of Oahu’s newest tour companies. The founder of the company vacationed on Kauai for years and usually took a boat tour of the Na Pali Coast. He later joined family on Oahu and discovered the unspoiled beauty of the Makua Coast and Ka’ena Point and dreamt of a boat tour that could go where no others went. The captain and crew are seasoned sailors and watermen, but the boat is Hawaii's newest, most state-of-the-art power catamaran in its class, which means the latest technology, fresh ideas and enthusiastic service. The custom built 61-foot Kai ‘Oli ‘Oli is Hawaiian for “joy on the ocean”. Because of its exceptional high speed and long range, it allows the catamaran to go from Ko Olina Marina all the way up the Leeward coastline sometimes it may go past Makaha to the northernmost tip of the West coast, the sacred Ka’ena Point.

During your cruise you will enjoy the large change rooms, four outdoor warm water showers, the comfortable dry cabin and spacious swim steps. The catamaran is totally enclosed by strong railings and features a state-of-the-art audio and video system with all cruises narrated in both English and Japanese. Get your video and still cameras ready, because you’ll be seeing dolphins, whales (December to April), green sea turtles and flying fish. When you do meet up with the dolphins and whales, the captain will stop the boat so you can enjoy their antics while the knowledgeable crew tells you everything you want to know about these amazing and beautiful creatures.

After an exciting ride up the coast (about 40 miles), you’ll enjoy an hour of snorkeling at a site of the Captains choosing just off the Wai'anae Coastline. Enjoy one hour of exceptional snorkeling among the untouched coral and a reef that teems with beautifully colored tropical fish.

Back on board, you’ll enjoy a sumptuous lunch or dinner buffet that includes Hawaiian-style teriyaki chicken, Kalua pig (like pulled pork, but even tastier), Hawaiian-style potato-macaroni salad, white rice and fresh fruit such as honey dew melon, watermelon and cantaloupe. The tour also offers fresh buns with lettuce & tomato and various condiments to make your own sandwich. Think Kalua pig slider? A professional photographer will produce a DVD with 100-plus photos of each cruise, as well as a pre-recorded video for purchase at the end of your cruise.

The Ocean Joy Cruises has a dolphin sighting guarantee on both the Morning Calm and Afternoon Adventure cruises. If you do not see dolphins and/or whales, you can return for another cruise, subject to space availability. There will be a $25 meal fee and , if used, a transportation fee of $25 will apply. All phases of the cruises, including snorkeling are at the Captain’s discretion. Full refunds are available for cancellations over 24 hours in advance of reservation. No refunds given for no-show/cancellations within 24 hours of scheduled activity. Waiver/disclaimer forms requires a signature.
